How It All Started – Nadia’s Fireplace Tips & Cozy Inspirations

People often ask me,
“Why fireplaces?”
Usually with the same expression someone uses when asking, “Why jump into a frozen lake...on purpose?”

Now, I’ve never done a polar plunge (on purpose), but I have survived one very moody, wood-burning fireplace during an especially frosty winter. That night, armed with nothing but sheer determination, slightly singed eyebrows, and a stubborn streak, I finally got the fire going. It didn’t just warm the room—it warmed my soul. (Also, my toes. Important.)

And that’s when it hit me:
Fireplaces aren’t just practical—they’re a little bit magical. ✨

📝 From Spark to Story

I’ve spent over 10 years in the fireplace industry—surrounded by hearths, chimneys, gas logs, and enough ash to start a small volcano. I’d seen the confusion people had when shopping for fireplace doors or trying to decode gas log instructions written in what I assume was ancient Martian.

So I started writing. Just a little blog filled with tips, how-tos, safety advice, and stories that often began with,

"So, I definitely shouldn’t have done that..."

The goal?
Make fireplaces less intimidating, more fun, and a lot more fabulous.

🛒 Then Came the Store…

Soon enough, people weren’t just asking questions like:
“Which fireplace doors actually fit my firebox?”
“What gas logs won’t make my living room smell like a high school chemistry lab?”
“Do spark screens have to look like medieval punishment devices?”

They were asking where they could actually buy the things I trusted and used.

And so, the blog evolved into Nadia’s Store—a curated collection of fireplace doors, mantels, hoods, tool sets, gas logs, and all the cozy gear that makes your fire area feel more like you. If it’s in my store, I’ve either installed it, tested it, tripped over it, or Nova (my husky) has tried to chew it.

🌿 Beyond the Hearth

As much as I adore an indoor fire, the great outdoors has its own kind of glow. That’s why I created the Patio & Yard section. Think:

  • Elegant arbors

  • Cozy outdoor furniture

  • Swoon-worthy fire pits

  • Grills for the marshmallow enthusiast in all of us

Whether you're relaxing under string lights or chasing squirrels out of the bird feeder (again), I wanted to help bring the same warmth outdoors.

🐾 Powered by Snacks & Siberian Husky Judgement

Through every blog post, every product test, and every spark of inspiration, Nova—my resident fluffball and quality control supervisor—has stayed loyally curled up by the fire. She judges my throw pillow choices, but she’s here for the snacks and the ambiance.

🔮 Where We're Headed

I may have started with a cold house and a smoky room, but here’s where we’re headed next:

  • Expand outdoor living content: More tips, gear, and cozy ideas for your patio & yard

  • More videos & tutorials: Because sometimes it’s easier to watch me struggle with fireplace doors than read about it

  • DIY kits & bundles: For those who want everything you need—without needing a PhD in fire science

  • Nova’s Picks section: Yes, my husky gets a say. She has strong opinions on porch furniture.

  • Better tools to find your perfect fit: From fireplace doors to log sets, no more guesswork

🔥 Let’s Keep the Fire Going

Whether you’re brand new to the fireplace world or a seasoned flame whisperer, I’m here to help you light things up—with tips, tools, and a little style along the way.

So grab a mug, fluff your comfiest throw, and stay awhile.
